What is a Type II error?
Failing to reject the null hypothesis when it is actually false (false negative).
Example: Failing to detect that a drug works when it actually does; acquitting a guilty person
Note: β is related to power (Power = 1 − β); reducing α increases β and vice versa; larger samples reduce β
